The Rural Health Scholars Program is an enhancement program geared to give students opportunities that will help them as they apply to graduate level health care programs such as Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Optometry, and Physician Assistant.
RHS is a menu selection type of program. Multiple offerings can be chosen by students. Students have the option of getting SUU credit for some of the offerings. Weekly e-mails are sent to students giving them information about opportunities and tips and hints for the application process. Current health care articles e-mailed to students keep students informed about a variety of topics essential to pre-health students.
Some of the activities available within the program.
Our office is also staffed by student peer mentors who are applying to a graduate health program this cycle. To schedule an appointment with a peer mentor, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What do our students think?
“I just wanted to thank you for the heads up that potentially saved me years. Thanks for all you do.”
–Shay, Dixie State University
“Rural Health Scholars has opened up doors that I never could have opened on my own. It has introduced me to people who I wouldn’t have met without the RHS experience, and through meeting those individuals, has created additional opportunities that I never would have been possible without RHS. It has given me the opportunity to help others the way I have been helped. I am extremely grateful for my experience with the Rural Health Scholars.”
– Matt Blanchard, Dixie State University and Rocky Vista University Early Acceptance Program student
